Tommy Kaira Makes the Honda Insight Hybrid a Little Bit More Interesting to Look at

Looks nice....
The new Honda Insight hybrid is one of those vehicles that makes us wonder if the team responsible for its styling fell asleep during the design stage. Tommy Kaira has tried to address this "problem" by developing a new sport package for the Japanese hybrid.

The tuner's offerings includes an aero kit that is also available in carbon-fiber trim and comprises of a front spoiler, a new grille, side skirts and a rear apron with an integrated diffuser that can optionally house four tail-pipes for an all-show, no-go appearance.

The package can be rounded off with new 15- or 16-inch alloy wheels, a sport suspension that lowers the car by 30 to 35mm and various other accessories and parts such as sport seats, sill plates etc.

Huh? JDM Honda Odyssey Tricked Out as a BMW

Ah yes, the things people do....
Needless to say, this Japanese domestic market Honda Odyssey isn't your typical soccer-mom's minivan. Besides the insane negative camber all around and the fact that in parking position, the Odyssey sits only about an inch or two away from the road, what makes this custom creation stand out from the crowd is that the designer managed to incorporate the front-end of an E92 BMW 3-Series Coupe. Oddly enough, the bimmer nose seems to work nice...

Honda Tuner; 1994 Honda Del Sol

Here's a great article about a Honda Tuner's personal project car....

When Your Daily Looks Better Than Most People's Project Cars, You Know You're Working On A "Miracle Whip"

Ferd Natividad's 1994 Honda Del Sol S Anyone who has ever built a project car that has reached any amount of success will promise the next project will be even better. The hunger just doesn't die. If you build a car and it ends up in a magazine, then you definitely have to come back even stronger than before. It's often hard to pinpoint why, though it could be attributed to pride. Maybe you just want to prove to yourself that it wasn't a fluke. Either way, the thirst to create never really goes away. Nobody wants to be a one-hit wonder. If you can produce hits, why not keep going? There's no such thing as true satisfaction when it comes to building Hondas; people are always striving to do more or change something up. If you run out of something to do to your car, more than likely, it's time to move on to something else. Even the person who says "I'm just going to enjoy my car now" is still tinkering with something here and there.

Honda Civic Type R MUGEN Confirmed for UK at £38,599 OTR

British tuners Mugen Euro will build up to 20 units of Honda Civic Type R Mugen, a "road-legal super hatch." The car will receive 240PS from the 2.0-liter i-VTEC engine, a 20% gain over the untuned version.

"Each Type R MUGEN will be an exclusive, hand-built race car for the road," said Mugen Euro VP Hiroki Toyoda. "When we launched the Civic Type RR saloon in Japan, we sold out of all 300 units in just six minutes. Given the interest we have already had from car enthusiasts in the UK and abroad, we hope to repeat that achievement."

The car will be hand-built in the U.K., with engineers installing new camshafts, pistons, intake, and exhaust. The car has a limited slip differential, a nice feature for some of Great Britain's windier roads. Forged alloy wheels weigh only 7.85 kilograms per wheel, and cover four-piston racing caliper brakes. The company wrapped the wheels in "track-ready road-legal" tires.

Each Type R Mugen will be coated in Championship White, Honda's racing color. Exterior features include a new rear wing, and composite front and rear skirts. A custom grille, with Mugen badge, was also installed. Inside, Recaro seats were used for the driver and front passenger, while the rear seat bench was stripped out altogether.

To get your hands on one of these cars, prepare to spend £38,599. That price includes taxes, fees, and paperwork. You can read more about the Honda Civic Type R Mugen in the press release below.

Civic Nation Microsite: Mix your own Anthem

Honda tunes into Civic Nation via anthem mix-off
Honda is rallying its peeps around a major Civic Nation mix-off in an effort to re-energize its Civic brand with younger demos. Leveraging the "United We Drive" campaign, which was first launched by Honda four years ago, the latest national program has a new spin - literally - by inviting Civic fans to create an "Anthem for the Nation" on a newly created sound track mixer from samples developed by local hip hop celeb Saukrates.

With media buys helmed by the brand's long-time agency PHD, and creative helmed by Toronto-based Grip, the new campaign spans TV, online, radio and out-of-home elements all designed to drive its target 18- to 34-year-old demo to the microsite. There, a mixer complete with a timeline scrubber and sync pads invites users to create a 30-second track from a choice of categories - Electronica, Hip Hop or Electro Pop.

The mixer engages users by allowing them to pull in different loops of instruments - percussion, organ, bass and strings - before publishing them to the site to garner votes. The anthem with top votes from the Civic Nation mix-off wins the prize: airing for two weeks as the intro to DJ megastar Starting from Scratch's show on the Traffic Flow MixShow on Flow 93.5 - a radio station with a highly urban and multicultural demo.

"Scratch is probably the most famous DJ in Canada," Ravi Dindayal, director, interactive at Grip tells MiC. "He has a very diverse audience and Civic is a very multicultural brand. We thought that the show was big enough to create a strong enough incentive."

To help users gain more votes (and tip off the viral aspect of the contest), Grip has also created a piece of player code that acts like an ad to the track, available on the microsite, that users can cut and post to their blog, on Facebook, MySpace or Twitter. Over 250 songs have been created over the past three weeks, and the site has received over 30,000 unique hits according to Google Analytics. "We tried to build as many social hooks as possible," notes Dindayal.
