Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Not Due Until 2012

Nice....As it turned out you are going to have to wait another year for the Camaro Z28, but at least it’s confirmed now! Camaro5 has apparently got the hold of some documents from a National Chevrolet Dealer’s meeting, where among many things, they’ve confirmed January 1, 2012 as the day for Z28′s production to begin.

The baddest Camaro of them all will come as both coupe and convertible variants and will have huge power output in the neighborhood of 550 hp thanks to its 6.2 liter supercharged V8. Other things regarding Camaro Z28 confirmed at the meeting include (direct quote from Camaro5):
Production begins January 1, 2012

Internally referred to as the “HP Edition” model (it was not actually referred to as “Z28? during the meeting)

-6.2L supercharged engine
-Magnetic Ride suspension
-285F / 330R tires
-Hood design to have louvre/slat design seen in spy photos (dealers in attendance were shown a gray Z28 model)
-Slight (not major) updates to the interior, with some brighter trimwork

The Muschallaro: Part Challenger, Part Camaro, Part Mustang

A talented modeler named Robert D. came up with the wacky idea of creating a scale-model that combines elements from the latest editions of Detroit's pony cars: the body of a Chevy Camaro, the front end of a Dodge Challenger and the rear-end of the Ford Mustang. And this here is the result.

I like the main body of the Camaro better than the Challenger. I like the Challenger front end better than the Camaro. Once the idea was in my head to add Mustang to the equation, it all came together, because I found out pretty quickly that the three could combine into one," Robert stated in a forum for model cars.

We don't have to tell those of that you have ever attempted to make a custom model that it's easier said than done. Nevertheless, after four painstaking months of work, Robert pulled it off.
And even if you disagree with the aesthetics or the parts of the three muscle cars that were chosen for the model, you can't but admire the result from a technical point of view.

Now, any ideas what the tri-pony car should be named?

Trans Am Conversion Kit Coming for Camaro

Yes!
So... as of January 1, 2010, Pontiac is dead. Buried. Gone forever. No more. Obviously, something as pesky as death ain't going to stop hard core Trans Am fanatics from driving an (almost) honest to goodness 2010 Pontiac Trans Am and/or Firebird. Why? If you have to ask... you bring up a good point. Especially because when you get right down to it, the Trans Am was rarely anything other than a Chevy Camaro with different sheet metal.

Keeping that in mind, Trans Am Depot will be offering body kits that will transform (lowly) Camaros into full-on screamin' chicken Trans Ams! Based off Kevin Morgan's original design(s), the Phoenix Trans Am kits will be unveiled at the 2009 Trans Am Nationals. And then you'll have the chance to own a Trans Am that costs more than a Camaro but is just as fast. Hey – just sayin'. Fully detailed press release after the jump.
