2013 TOYOTA COROLLA REVEALED
By Mike Stevens
Toyota's all-new 2013 Toyota Corolla hatch , sold overseas as the Auris, has reportedly surfaced online in a series of leaked brochure images.
The vehicle shown in the scanned pages is a clear match for the camouflaged prototypes spied by TMR's photographers earlier this year.
Uncovered by website Noticias Automotivas, the images reveal an Auris-badged hatch that draws heavily on the look of the new Yaris light car and the Camry medium sedan.
As we could see on the spied cars, the new Corolla has been given an image overhaul, featuring a sharper face with a deep-V grill design and slender lighting at both ends.
The new 'rolla also benefits from a longer windscreen, contributing to a longer and more streamlined profile than the current model.
Inside, there's a mostly black dash design, with an uninterrupted top level and circular air vents. The gear shifter has also returned to the more traditional position in the now-separated centre console.
According to the leaked pages, the new Corolla is 30mm longer, with a roof 50mm lower than the current model.
The new Corolla will launch with a 1.8 litre petrol engine - likely an updated version of the engine offered with the current model - and a BMW-sourced diesel will be offered in some markets.
Details for the diesel have not been revealed, although we could expect to see a version of the 1.6 litre engine that drives the Mini Cooper D, originally sourced from Peugeot-Citroen.
In the Cooper D, the 1.6 litre diesel engine features direct injection and turbocharging, producing 82kW and 270Nm of torque. Fuel consumption is listed at 3.8 l/100km - among the lowest figures of any car available in Australia.
In Australia, the new Corolla will tackle Hyundai's new i30 and the Ford Focus, and Toyota will be looking to the hatch's sportier style to battle the next Mazda3 - which will undoubtedly be sharper than the already segment-leading current model.

Autoblog: Next Gen Toyota Rav4?
By Jeremy Korzeniewski

The Toyota RAV4 is due for a major update, having last been redesigned for the 2006 model year. Yes, it's gotten some tweaks since that time, but the compact crossover market is an ever-evolving place filled with tough competition from around the globe, and Toyota needs the RAV4 to maintain its hard-fought market share.
According to our spy photographers, the RAV4's next redesign is right around the corner. Judging from these photos, it would appear that Toyota is keeping its little 'ute to the confines of pavement – a wise decision, as vehicles of this ilk never venture very far off the beaten path. That said, the sharply angular lines of this new model's head and taillamps bring its styling more in line with the latest Camry and Avalon sedans while still putting its occupants over the heads of shorter machinery.
Rumors suggest that the 2013 RAV4 will enter production in the fall of '12, powered by a range of four-cylinder engines and possibly a hybrid. We'd be a bit surprised if the automaker's 3.5-liter V6 weren't available, as well. See the spy shots for yourself in our high-res image gallery above.

Toyota FT-86 / Scion FR-S specs leaked via training manual

Last week, we saw leaked images of a tricked out Toyota FT-86 thanks to a leaked brochure of the company’s in-house tuning arm Modellista. Over the weekend, another brochure was leaked showing the production version of the Toyota FT-86. We now have another leak – a training manual that gives us more information on the specs and options that will be available on/with the FT-86 and Scion FR-S (as it will be sold in the United States). If the document is to be believed, the Toyota FT-86 will weigh in at 2,662 pounds (with manual) and will be powered by a 2.0 liter flat 4-cylinder engine making 197-hp at 7,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 150 lb-ft at 6,600 rpm. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual as standard and an optional 6-speed automatic.
The document also shows that the FT-86 and FR-S will be available in two trim levels. The base will be a lower-spec model that has only the limited-slip diff with the manual transmission. The higher-spec model will get a limited-slip rear differential in both manual and automatic versions. Higher-spec models will also get leather-wrapped steering, ‘high-quality’ seats, LED accent lighting, a 6-speaker audio system, sport pedals and white-lighted gauges and larger wheels.
Click here more news on the Toyota FT-86.
The production Toyota FT-86 will debut at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show along with the Subaru BRZ. The production Scion FR-S will most likely debut at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.

Carscoop: New Toyota Prius C: Leaked Brochure Reveals Standalone Small Hybrid Hatch

We got our first taste of the next member to join Toyota's growing family of Prius models with the Prius C concept study that made its debut alongside the Prius V minivan at the Detroit Motor Show earlier this year. But today, thanks to a tip from a Carscoop reader in Japan who goes by the nickname "i-Ryuji", we can show you the actual production version of the Prius C through a plethora of scanned images from a leaked brochure.
With a big stretch of imagination, you might see the resemblance between the concept study and the production variant of the Prius C that evolves the design language of the regular Prius liftback.
The interior styling is a bit funkier with a center-mounted dashboard and at least in Japan, the ability to customize the look of the cabin with different upholstery and colored trim accents.
You won’t be surprised to learn that the Japanese language is not our forte, but in one of the spec sheets, it appears that Toyota compares the Prius C with several rivals in Japan including the Mazda2 13-Skyactive.
On the same page, the first column (with the G, S and L trim designations) includes the basic specifications of the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) Prius C.
The smallest member of the Prius family measures 3,995mm (157.3-in.) long, 1,695mm (66.7-in.) wide, and 1,445mm (56.9-in.) tall, and has a wheelbase length of 2,550mm (100.4-in.). This means it's barely bigger than the latest Yaris (153.5" long, 66.7" wide, 59.4" tall, with a 98.8" wheelbase).
The brochure also tells us that power will come from a hybrid unit that combines a 1.4-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine delivering 74HP at 4,800 rpm and 111Nm (81.9 lb-ft) of torque at 4,800 rpm, and an electric motor producing up to 61-horses and 169Nm (125 lb-ft) with a CVT. The hybrid system's combined output (in JDM tune) is rated at 100HP.
Toyota estimates that the front-wheel drive hybrid will return a fuel consumption of 35.4 km/lt (equal to 83.3 mpg US or 2.8lt/100km) on the Japanese JC08 driving cycle and up to 40 km /lt (94 mpg US or 2.5lt/100 km) on the 10.15 mode driving cycle.
We would like to stress that the above fuel efficiency numbers should not be used for direct comparison as the Japanese driving cycles differ from the U.S. and European combined measurements. For example, in Japan, Toyota says that the regular Prius returns up to 38 km/lt, which is equal to 89.4mpg and 2.6lt/100km, while the U.S. model is rated at 50mpg combined.
So, when and where will we see the new Prius C making its debut? The JDM model will receive its world premiere at the Tokyo Motor Show in December while Toyota recently revealed that the North American debut would take place in Detroit in January of 2012.
During the U.S. media presentation of the new Prius Plug-in Hybrid in California in mid-September, Toyota Division Group Vice President and General Manager, Bob Carter, mentioned the new Prius C in his speech:
"The Prius v will be followed by the Prius Plug-in next March, and the Prius c will follow in the Spring," said Carter. "The Prius c will offer expressive styling in a city-friendly vehicle that we believe will be the most fuel efficient hybrid without a plug in the U.S. While we showed you a “c Concept” at this year’s Detroit Auto Show, we will be debuting the production Prius c for the first time in Detroit this coming January."
Hat tip to i-Ryuji!

2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid Spyshots

By Alex Nunez
Toyota was busy introducing all flavors of the 2012 Toyota Camry to the media earlier this week, but since all that stuff's embargoed, there's not much to tell. Yet. But what isn't under embargo is this collection of spy photos showing the 2012 Camry Hybrid in its birthday suit while shooting a television commercial.
The new Camry's familiar roofline communicates practicality overall, but the updated sheetmetal has more crisp lines, with new fascias fore and aft. The hybrid's grille treatment apes that of the facelifted Highlander Hybrid, and yes, those headlights are indeed the ones Akio Toyoda teased a few weeks ago.
In a nutshell, it's still a conservative look, but decidedly less frumpy than before. Now, let's see what changes Toyota's made below the surface to bring the Camry in line with the current midsize family-sedan competition.

Car and Driver spots the Next Gen Toyota 4Runner

2010 Toyota 4Runner Spotted Undisguised - Car NewsAmong cattle, myriad fried-food concoctions (including fried Coke), and plenty of truck-driving Texans at this year’s Texas State Fair will be the latest Toyota 4Runner. The Japanese automaker says the 2010 model will be introduced there on September 24, the day before the gates open to the public, and has released a teaser photo showing the new rig crawling on one very inclined rock. We can do one better: a crafty reader snapped these 4Runners with a cell-phone camera, giving us a sneak peek.
The saying goes that everything’s bigger in Texas, and Toyota tells us the new 4Runner will indeed be roomier inside. This is likely thanks to new squared-off, slab-sided, blunt-nose looks. As seen in these shots, the interior is nicely updated with a look similar to the Land Cruiser’s cabin.
We’re expecting a more rugged 4Runner with new off-road features to make its debut at the fair.
As our last spied story explained, we already know—from leaked product info guides from yet another helpful reader—that the 2010 model will offer a choice of four- or six-cylinder power, instead of the six- and eight-pot configurations of the current truck. The four is a 161-hp 2.7-liter and the V-6 is the same 4.0-liter, although it’s been upgraded to put out 19 more hp, for a total of 258.
Options like a dynamic suspension system, crawl control, off-road ABS, and water-repellant seats should ready the 4Runner for off-road adventure. Luxury features will not all vanish, though, with keyless start, 20-inch wheels, nav with satellite traffic info, and Bluetooth and USB connectivity making the order sheet.

Next Gen 2011 Toyota Sienna Spied

The next Sienna is planned for a debut sometime this fall with sales following in 2010 and it's going to be bringing the heat. It will wear styling borrowed from the Camry and the 2010 Prius, but it's more the inside which will cause heartburn to the competitors with rumored features in the top-shelf model like Lay-Z-Boy-style reclining captains chairs complete with leg rests as well as a novel, extra-wide single video screen. Think of it like a 20:9 aspect ratio television screen, and the suspicion is the unit will run two video sources simultaneously. Should be interesting to see how it goes up against Chrysler's bread-and-butter minivans, one of the few product lines we're positive someone would snap up if Cerberus decides to chop Chrysler up and sell off the pieces.
